Initially drawn to aviation, a serendipitous visit to King Faisal University’s medical school redirected his ambitions toward medicine, thanks to the encouragement of the dean. Excelling academically, he ventured abroad to Germany and the U.S. for further training in surgery and organ transplantation, acquiring skills that would later revolutionize laparoscopic surgery in Saudi Arabia.
Upon returning to his homeland, Dr. Bukhari significantly advanced the nation’s surgical standards by introducing and disseminating advanced laparoscopic techniques. His leadership in organizing the first international course on laparoscopic surgery in Saudi Arabia and his dedication to training over 158 courses have been pivotal in enhancing surgical care and education in the region. Notably, his efforts have expanded the range of surgeries available in the Kingdom, including pioneering efforts in bariatric surgery.
Currently, Dr. Bukhari has brought his vast experience and innovative spirit to King’s College Hospital London in Jeddah, joining our esteemed team as a testament to his ongoing commitment to surgical excellence and education. At IMC, his leadership transformed the institution into a leading healthcare provider, significantly increasing patient intake through his reputation and expertise. Dr. Bukhari’s impact is far-reaching, with contributions that extend beyond national borders, affirming his status as a top specialist in catastrophic surgeries and a valued educator globally.
